NY MTA Chief Says Railroads Need To Work Together To Address Overcapacity

The following plan would involve the construction on new tunnels to Manhattan, Staen Island, New Jersey, and between Midtown and Downtown Manhattan.

But the other branches would not run as frequently as all times as the three main line routes (and branches) shown on this map.

THE NEW METROPOLITAN NEW YORK METROPOLITAN RAIL NETWORK

-Service every 15 minutes or less on the main line routes shown on the map. With service every 7 minutes or less on combined portions.

-New direct rail service from Long Island to downtown Brooklyn, Downtown Manhattan, and Jersey City. Providing faster and easier commutes to the regions new job growth centres in Jersey City.

-New direction rail service to Staten Island and New Jersey, reducing commute times for some New Jersey residents, by offering direct rail service to Manhattan, without having to travel via Newark.

-Projected ridership of 5 million riders a day on the new metropolitan network.

Interesting... I think I'd have a line running from NJ to CT via the Hell Gate Bridge, though. The N-S line through Manhattan would host trains from Long Island via East Side Access.

Otherwise you're forcing people to change trains at a gigantic underground station at 33rd/Park that probably can't be built.
