I keep live samples of that stuff at my place and take it back to work to present to clients. I usually keep the trays vertical so they wont flood, but anyways they look more reddish in the winter.

The awnings past the first floor HAVE to go. Reminds me of American Girl Place.

The announcement in mid-May struck the city's glum real estate market like a thunderbolt. With no tenants and nearby buildings suffering from a plague of vacancies, Hines Interests L.P. unveiled plans for a 45-story office tower spanning nearly 900,000 square feet spread at 444 W. Lake St. Total cost: $300 million.

New West Loop tower

There's going to be a community meeting - info here - for a new residential and commercial building at 765 W Adams. This is almost guaranteed to be a tower (possibly a fairly tall one too) given the location. From what I've heard, the retail might include a large gym and another grocery store.

That's great news. It is nice to see all the proposals that are planned to the west of the Kennedy Expressway.

I have a hard time believing that another grocery chain would want to move into that area, that would make the third grocery within a quarter mile of Halsted.

The density over there is definitely needed. In my perfect world, you'd see most of those surface lots filled with highrises and a well preserved section of Greektown. It would essentially end up being something to the character of Hubbard street in River North...without all the wildness of course. Too bad the damn freeway cuts through, but I doubt we'll ever see any sort of cap over the next couple of decades. Had there been any consideration, we'd see it bundled as part of the Circle Interchange Redesign Scope of Work.

Well, the Circle Interchange project could definitely depress the Kennedy a few feet lower. This would make it much easier to deck at a later date.

My good sir, you've a memory like a pachyderm. (Though probably not politics like one.) But as I believe the gentleman was thinking along lines similar to mine, my strongest feelings right now are more about finding a way to Madrid to see this damned wall which I understand is so beautiful, along with a search for some of those pintxos they keep talking about.

Fret not. But keep following to the 500 N Lakeshore Drive thread to see possibly other discussion of green walls.

I was going to bring this up in the General Developments thread when it came up in April. I didn't see it being discussed anywhere so maybe this would be a good time to continue it over there. I'd be impressed if they can find the space to really effect throughput improvements at the Circle. But I guess it needs almost CREATE-level attention, since it's the worst roadway freight choke point in the country apparently. So long as the President and Transportation Secretary are from here, we might as well build a bigger spaghetti bowl while the sun shines.

I am really dying to hear something about the One South Halsted proposal. I love the design and location. Any idea when we might hear something on it ? Last I knew it was undergoing a 14 month approval process, but that should be over. Maybe someone could contact the firm associated with the proposal ?

I know it's not a highrise development, but what about the Circle Line? Is that still even a possibility? They were talking about it when I was in high school.

It turns out the Coast at Lakeshore East will be a bit taller than previously thought. The correct height is 464'-2".

A few pictures from this afternoon - AMLI, Tri-hotel, & NU Outpatient Pavilion:

Nice pics. Not that I don't find your info reputable, but do you have a source for the coast height?

Considering the time he spends going to construction sites to gather the information, I would say it is a safe bet that the number came off of the construction blueprints.
