Idaho 2011 Census Thread

Here are the county results:
7/1/2011 pop. 4/1/2010 pop.
1. Ada County 400,842 392,365
2. Canyon County 191,694 188,923
3. Kootenai County 141,132 138,494
4. Bonneville County 105,772 104,234
5. Bannock County 83,691 82,839
6. Twin Falls County 78,005 77,230
7. Bingham County 45,952 45,607
8. Bonner County 40,808 40,877
9. Nez Perce County 39,543 39,265
10. Madison County 37,864 37,536

There were no changes in the top 10 from last year. Ada County surpassed 400,000 in population! Canyon County should have over 200,000 people by 2014 and Kootenai County should have 150,000 people by 2015.

Metro/micro areas:

It looks like the recession never really affected Idaho's growth other than slowing it down a bit. I am getting used to the slow pace of growth but I would have no problem going back to the pre recession growth either.

The only big change since last year was Eagle hitting 20,000 residents.

Boise, Meridian, Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Eagle, Kuna, and Hayden all grew more than 1.5% last year.

I believe Avimor is kinda dead. M3 is the mega development still on the books.

2012 Metro & Micro Area estimates came out last week. Here are the numbers for Idaho's Metros & Micros:
7/1/11 7/1/12 % growth
1) Boise metro 627,636 637,896 1.63
(Ada, Canyon, Gem, Owyhee counties)
2) Coeur d'Alene metro 141,103 142,357 .89
(Kootenai county)
3) Idaho Falls metro 134,847 136,108 .94
(Bonneville, Butte, Jefferson counties)
4) Twin Falls micro 101,094 100,570 .52
(Jerome, Twin Falls counties)
5) Pocatello metro 83,524 83,800 .33

Latah County moved ahead of Madison County over the past year. Other than that there were no changes in rankings in the largest counties.

If current rates continue, Ada County will have 450,000 people by 2018, Canyon County will have 200,000 people by 2015, Kootenai County will have 150,000 people by 2018, and Bonneville County will have 110,000 people by 2016.

For Metro & Micro Areas, Sandpoint was finally named a Micro Area this year and has 40,476 in its Micro Area.
