another generic vancouver building. good massing, height and street treatment, but just generic. where's the rebellion brewing among neighborhood types that hate the way the newer city looks, recent grad architects and planners who consider the past 20 years to be nearly as bad as the béton brut years, even just business owners who want to break with form?

Love this building, a fantastic nod to the existing neighbourhood while still managing to bring in a new look.

The project has been revised a 3rd time and probably the last time.

The report going before City Council shows the protruding rectangular element facing Main St. to be framed in red (like the north side of the podium facing Keefer) - so that adds a bit of colour.

Project was approved unanimously tonight. It's neighbour goes to council next week.

The activists managed to prevent major further developments from the west (stopping at the Woodwards), so it is nice to see development coming from the south. Hopefully we'll get more from the east.

I believe market pressures in 2014 will see renewed development from the west and we'll see a "Gastown Phase 2".
