A few weeks ago, a fellow forum member took a group of us to his home, The Austonian. The Austonian is the tallest building in the city at 683 feet. People who live in it have access to the top two floors, the 55th and 56th floors. There are patios on those two floors that give spectacular views of the surrounding metro region.

It was pretty sweet being that high up. I think my next update will be the Barton Creek Greenbelt. I went right after a day of rain, so it was really flowing.

Great pics. And of course I had to point out to the rest of the forum that you captured me showing up late to the forum meet.

I was being dropped off in the brown van at the stop light (right side of photo). I had my bicycle in the back and was planning to ride it back home. We showed up 30 minutes late to the forum meet, so I wasn't able to go. And wouldn't you know it, haux took our photo from the top of the Austonian. LOL

Barton Creek Greenbelt

I was here last month after a weekend with plenty of rain, so the creek was really flowing. I haven't been there since then, but I saw one picture from a week or two ago, and it's back to a trickle or dry. This drought's killing us.

Nice. I love the Barton Creek greenbelt. Austin's so lucky to have it.

It has been forever since I have been to that spot over 360, but it looks like you can see downtown pretty well in that second picture? We live just on the other side of the lake and really need to go up there again soon. I didn't remember being able to see our skyline from up there, and thought the hills blocked the view.

Fantastic photos all of them! Thank you for continuing to share them with us. =)

I somehow missed the Barton Creek update when you posted it. I love it.

Very nice pics! It's amazing how much Austin's skyline has changed in recent years.

I hadn't noticed that red bandana and braids on the W sign. That is awesome.

Kudos for the pic of the SRV mural.

No. I'm camping/hotel/b+b up and down the west michigan coast as time allows all summer. Although I was forced to go to the Target there recently.

Announcement

OK, I've got bad news. I'm moving to Florida, likely next month, maybe in September. My job's moving me to West Palm Beach. I'd been wanting and trying to move to Austin for six years, and I finally land this job and move here in August, and I have to turn around and move away.

I knew my job was being transferred. I was just optimistic that I'd land another job. But that hasn't happened. There's not enough time to get a job and leave the Florida one waiting. I need employment.

I hate this. I love this city. It's so fun and happening and photogenic. I'm going to miss it greatly. But there are worse places to move. One of my colleagues is being transferred to Dayton, Ohio. I'm not a fan of snow, so at least I have no real winters in Florida.

I'll try to post one or two more updates before I move.

Thanks for looking at my pictures. And thanks for the great forum meet awhile ago!

Well that's a bummer. I've enjoyed your photos, haux. Of course now I'll just have to view your Florida ones.

Unhappy

My last days in Austin are upon me, so this is likely going to be my last update. I might update after I move to Florida, but this will be my last update while still living in Austin.

I'm going to miss Austin more than you can imagine, even though I only got to spend a year here. I hope someday I can come back.

On the plus side, I'll take plenty of photos of West Palm Beach, which is underrepresented here.
