Wow, I didn't realize that this development was on the same scale as the Olympic village. I guess the pavement will be extended. I wish it could be extended much further, rollerblading along the dyke would be great.

Just one picture of River Green. Guess there are two more buildings going up where the piles of sand are in the next year or two. They just finished loading it up a few weeks ago.

Other sites to the East and South of the Oval are progressing as well and I'll try and get some pictures this week.

^ love the lush, green plants in the foreground of the picture. Is that plot of land reserved parkland?

Has there been any word on the commercial aspects of this development? It'll be interesting to see how this community matures... especially given it's similarities to the Olympic Village.

No, its a wsteland between an older condo and No. 2 Road. Does anybody know if it's a right of way?

The pic doesn't clearly show how close the two sandpile buildings are to the bridge approach. The building in this development are really sandwiched all together in an unappealing way.

^ thanks. I see it now. It's taken most likely from the old condos on the other side of No.2 road. Pulling an image from Google to see this wasteland more clearly:

It's just a plot of land that is occasionally mowed by the city...like once a year. Not a park or anything like that. I haven't found any recent development plans for it.

I guess there probably won't be any information until it gets closer to the completion of Phase 1 but I can't find out if there will be any commercial in Phase 1 or if it will be built after.

There is no retail/commercial in Phase 1, however, from what I know there will be commercial/retail in phase 2 and 4.

That area is part of phase 3, it is owned by ASPAC and will be redeveloped.

actually i recall seeing a while back that this 'wasteland' is slated for an affordable housing project. i don't remember where or when I saw that, but it was perhaps mentioned during the river green master planning stage.

anyways, there are 'for lease' signs posted around Ora, which promotes an opportunity to "join T&T supermarket". i noticed this on two different 'for lease' signs around the site. any info with regards to the proposed supermarket?

Nope, there is however some affordable housing units that will be built, I believe that it is in part of the area for phase 2 or 4. I personally know that the 'wasteland' area is part of phase 3 since I heard it directly from the people at rivergreen

It looks like there's a reserved right of way for either an upstream and down stream replacement bridge option, or possibly a crappy interchange with River Rd.

It looks like that, but it's not. That plot is going to be developed.

Great shot. Really makes you wonder how they determined the siting and massing of the various towers.

The glass is pretty much done now on all the towers except the bottom right building in that last picture. They've started putting down a new curb around the edge of River Road and I guess the sidewalk will be filled in once that is done.

Poking my nose into the showroom a while back, they said that the next phase going up is on the east side of the Oval once those buildings are complete.

Yah, the positioning of the buildings is kind of weird; especially how close the two buildings in the middle are to the ones against the dyke. Living in those units that look right into your neighbours units would suck.

well, it does happen and more buildings will be closer together, when the city (not just richmond, but vancouver as well) continues to densify. an easy solution would be to either close the blinds, or buy curtains and close your windows so that your neighbors don't look across. in most cases, i think most people will mind their own business.
