There was an Irving mobile crane on site when I walked by around 7:30/8pm and a truck with concrete crane counterweights and various misc. crane parts. I think it's going to be up by the weekend!

I bet we will see the crane go up this weekend, the two yellow blocks on the flatbed are counterweights off the Irving Mobile Crane that has put up a bunch of tower cranes recently.

I drove by on the way into work and it looks like they might be gearing up to put the crane up today.

Yup, they already had one piece attached to the Irving crane and were about to lift it up when I drove by on my bike this morning. I took a quick picture with my phone.

Ladies and Gentlemen, after all these years of dealing with the anti-development crowd and their hostage taking of the city, I think we've finally won. With this, waterside and Nova Centre going up at once, the downtown is officially booming for once in a dogs age .

I'd have to say that Council's stance on development in the DT has certainly been quite positive. This is a step in the right direction! Now all we need is to get the twisted site dealt with, the Brewery going, Sackville Landing and Queen's Wharf projects going and then it will really feel like a boom.

Plus, not to leave Dartmouth out, with then interest in the site next to King's Wharf and King's Wharf itself going strong - there should be some good increases in the number of people in the regional centre.

For once - I'd like to see CBC do a positive story about the changes to dt.

Haha, that's great! I was at that exact corner just after you. I watched them put in the 3rd counterweight!

Unfortunately it seems to be just a bit too far to the right to be visible on the Halifax "waterfront" webcam: http://www.novascotiawebcams.com/hal...aterfront.html

It should show up in a lot of skyline views though. I wonder if it's possible to get a clear shot of the library crane, Waterside crane, and Citadel crane?

Possibly from the bridge, closer to the Halifax side.

I didn't have my camera with me when I went to work this afternoon, but you can see this crane WONDERFULLY from the Mt. Hope/111 interchange, you can also see the top of Waterside over the Law Courts building and most of the crane from the library if the boom is pointing towards Point Pleasant. It was kinda hard to make them all out with the sun shining directly in my eyes around 5 today, but they would all be clearly visible in the morning with the sun coming across the harbour from the east.

edit: The crane from The Waterton is also visible from this location as well. Sadly that stupid hill with that big old fort in the middle of downtown is in the way and you can't see the Craigmore Dr. crane.. lol

That hill is blocking our view, we must stop its terror.

Yes, from the Woodside Ferry Terminal parking lot, I was there yesterday, it's a beautiful sight!

Driving by the site this morning, it looks like there must have been a void under the ramp. The orange excavator is on its side in the building. Doesn't look like anyone is hurt, it had a substantial cage. They are now working at righting it.
