Other than it's height and resemblence to the Twin Towers... there is little about this building that makes it memorable or interesting. I liked it when I became interested in skyscrapers in the early 80's, but now it looks pre-historic.

I disagree. The Aon Center is an almost perfect expression of soaring verticality—the Holy Grail for Chicago architects since they first invented the form a century earlier. Edward Durell Stone achieved this effect because of the contrast between the uninterrupted white perimeter columns and dark glazing. Compare this to the Twin Towers, which were totally monochromatic and the verticality of which was visually interrupted by two mechanical floors.
Seems like people on this board seem to have a fascination with this building, but from my experience an average person on the street really doesn't think too much of it. Bland and tall, and that's about it.
It is strangely a building that is easy to overlook while on one's way- but its also strangely handsome and a definite bow to New Yorks World Trade towers. Over all it just needs a hot company to lease a nice amount of space and thus rely on the image of that company and or popularity "in ideal circumstances" to really stay in the forefront and example would be Mircrosoft or even Apple. Not that there is anything wrong with AON. Overall its just a box building and shouldnt much be thought about beyond that point.
I find box buildings to be some of the most classy and elegant buildings ever built, because I love simplicity in architecture. The vertical soaring lines make it seem much less cluttered, anyway.
