The green bit is just plastic netting. The rest of it is the scaffolding that surrounds the climbing formworks, and is probably made of bamboo. It looks like the climbing formwork rig is complete, so the tower should resume climbing soon.

Oh, stop it you-- that's not a dumb question at all! It's important that this forum remains a beacon of skyscraper knowledge that transcends the borders of the United States. To answer this excellent question; as far as I have heard this tower will be kept completely empty just like 90% of all the other towers in China. Basically it is a hollow showpiece built by Hong Kong based Chow Tai Fook. You may think it is odd that a profit-driven developer would build a tower for billions of dollars just to let it sit empty-- but that's just the silly stuff they pull off in ching-chong land. Weirdos!

Very classy tower, I like it. A solid 1700 footer in China goes nearly unnoticed these days... amazing

Agree, this is such a great building. One of the best supertalls going up anywhere IMO.

Is this bldg on hold, no renders in 2 years.. Looks like a nice, not too fancy, sweet ass bldg, not fighting for any records but still has more in height to offer than the U.S. Since it started in 2010 just doesnt seem like much hapening.. Just wondering if on hold?

It's my favourite tower in China too, behind Ping An in Shenzen.

Crazy rooftop garden. Amazing, but will be really windy, I reckon.

it looks like the glass curtain walls extend at least twenty feet over the garden, I bet it would actually be quite calm and peaceful on most days! Great design, this would have looked great at 1776' and sitting at 1 WTC.

I love the roofline. This tower has a lot of class. To bad it is tenantless! That is a lot of money up front for something that might not happen.
