Houston Mayor to be on the Colbert Report

http://texasleftist.blogspot.com/201...rt-report.html

Quote:
... Houston Mayor Annise Parker will be on tonight's episode of the Colbert Report. She's slated to talk about Houston, and about being one of the nation's most prominent openly gay politicians.

Though not at the national level, Houston Mayor Annise Parker presently serves the largest single electorate of any openly gay US politician. Though US House Representatives like Tammy Baldwin, Barney Frank and Jared Polis are on the national stage, their electorate is much smaller... approximately 700,000 people. The city of Houston is over 2 million people, and has now elected mayor Parker twice. That's a huge share of the population, especially when you consider that her electorate is in the Conservative "stronghold" of Texas.

Good for her and Houston. I love Steve Colbert. I just want to eat him with a spoon. :-)

Ive met Ms Parker a few times, the first time I met her I was biking around Montrose and was looking at cool old houses. I was taking photos of this huge 1890s house and she walked out and I started talking to her, didnt even know it was her. Shes kinda quiet. Shes a huge promoter of historic preservation which Houston needs really badly, seeing as we love tearing down anything new and replacing it with three story garaged condos.

Too bad she not a huge supporter of historic institutions in town, like neighborhood bars in montrose.
