Flatiron Building Oil Painting

"Flatiron Building - New York, New York"
(From 5th Ave & W 25th St)

Oil on Canvas, 20 x 16 inches
(51 x 41 cm), 2012
For sale

Almost two years after I started this on the streets of NYC. I finally got around to finishing it and have completed my 50th painting.

I visited New York in October 2010 for a few reasons. To see the city in the Fall (the leaves hadn't yet changed though), visit with some friends, and see how the construction was coming along at the WTC site. With the Flatiron so close and a buddy coming into Penn Station from Boston in the afternoon; I was able to spend a few hours of plein air work and earn some street cred

Forgot to add a couple pics working en plein air on it
* Please disregard the fashion faux pas of wearing black shirt and brown shoes & socks. I was in a hurry to get out that day. You didn't see that.

Awesome painting!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get for it?

I love your distinct style!

If you don't mind me asking did you sell to a local client base or do you do most of your promoting online? I'm an urban impressionist watercolorist

Big thanks NYCLuver, Tony, and ...Rick James! lol

The mix of buyers so far have been about 50/50 (DFW / across the U.S). Still looking for my first overseas sale. Sold this one locally in local for $2k. I probably make just $5 an hour after traveling costs. Understandably the middle class isn't buying like they were before 2008 so I'm trying to break into the more affluent arena so I can travel more. Still if anyone is interested in a piece I'm more than happy to work with you on payment plan or commission (have done so before).

Next city up: Baltimore next month. Looking forward to painting the harbor.

BTW: Respect for watercoloring yaletown. There's a little wiggly room for editing with oil but with watercolor there's little/no chance ...once it's down, it's down! Oughta post some of your work in the art section.
