That wouldn't be such a bad thing if it were a 20+ story condo tower.

"Hamilton school board severance application withdrawn"

Quote:
The application to sever the property at 100 Main St. W. has been withdrawn.

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board applied to the city's committee-of-adjustment to sever the land where the Education Centre now sits. The site is the future home of the McMaster Downtown Health Centre, scheduled to open in 2014.

The application was to be discussed Thursday but McMaster told CBC Hamilton Wednesday afternoon that the university had been advised to wait until after it took possession on Aug. 1.

“The university sent a letter to the city to defer the severance request until it takes ownership of the property,” said Gord Arbeau, director of community and public relations at McMaster.
Curious.

I'm guessing they don't want to do it until the property is theirs to do whatever with. Covering their asses.

I finally accepted the demolition of the BOE buiding because I thought that the building in the picture below was gonna be built. This new rendering is awful! Maybe I just need to see more pictures and plans, but right now I am really not liking it.

I prefer the BOE building to remain, and i also prefer the modern glass building to that ugly green box.

Yuck!

Does anyone else see a painful resemblance to the current building? The rotunda replaced by a box, the mechanical caging from the roof placed above the entrance to the right, and the main structure in the background stripped of its detail.

From bad to worse... Look at how tiny those windows are on the top floor.

Overall I kinda like the design, I like the watermelon colour.

I do hope the main building has better windows. Looking at it harder it seems the main facade for the back portion of the building has like limestone panels.

Would be funny if the facade is actually limestone. The new City Hall we could have gotten.

For the sake of perspective, I feel obliged to point out that the drawing's caption describes the illustration as a "preliminary conceptual rendering".

Looks like they did the john Sopinka courthouse http://www.norr.com/consulting_portf...house_ltr1.pdf and the McMaster building off the QEW in Burlington.

School Board building is empty and they are prepping for the demolition. Fences are going up.

Total shame to see that this is actually happening and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. Any idea on when the demolition is planned for? I want to see it one last time before it gets demolished, I have been at my cottage for the last 2 weeks so I haven't been able to see it and I just saw your post now. I hope it hasn't gone down since you posted this 3 days ago, but I would imagine that it would take a while for the prep work to be complete. I'll have to make a trip downtown to see it when I get home from the cottage tomorrow.
