Passed by the site the other day on the bus and it is now only one floor below grade.

8 Floors above grade and counting...not bad, but this one has been kinda on the slow side to get going. Should go up fast now...

I'm surprised how wide it looks in Rideau Street. While it will look slimmer from Cumberland, that is a less important vista.

However, the retail on Rideau is right at grade, which should be a substantial improvement over phases I and II.

I thought CP3 didn't have retail space.

I will NEVER forgive Claridge for this. If I see more of this on III & IV than I'm going to move away to a beach in Thailand. I guess they thought Besserer is a writeoff because of the homeless shelter? When that surface lot back there inevitably gets developed that's going to be an ugly thing to walk out to.

I can't agree more with you on this one.

What were they thinking? Looks like a prison wall!!!!

I can't imagine how this wall will look from the building across the street when one eventually goes up.

BIG MISTAKE CLARIDGE.

But I really like the size and look of the balconies.....just kidding!!!!!

I've been watching this one carefully as I live not too far away. What I'm pleased about is how floors 1-3 relate to each other and the street. As they've started to put the facing up you can see it's going to be much better than CPI and II.

All it has is loading bays and side doors... boring as dirt. Never realised it until now.

Let`s say that the East Market complex lower floor is one of the worst I have seen yet. What were they thinking? or should I say that they probably were not thinking.

It was the start of the condo boom and, at the time, the city didn't care as long as we we're building downtown. Look at the "St-George" condo a block south-west (I think that was the first of the condo tower boom), it doesn’t have the loading dock mess, but it sure is lifeless at street level.

The city really didn't have any long-term vision when it came to condos in the late 1990s/early 2000's. The city council hadn't really been exposed to condos, nor did they anticipate the condo boom. And many of the builders, more or less, pulled the wool over the councils eyes before they really had a firm grasp of what was going on and how these projects would look upon competition and years later - case in point: Metropole.

The city and neighbourhoods are much more aware and active than they used to be when it comes to zoning changes/approvals. So far it has been a change for the good, but there is still a lot of room for improvement in that regard.
