Megabus crashes into the bridge in Illinois

I heard what happened the Megabus crashes into the bridge. When it's happening the bus were blew the tire off. There is dozen injured but, only 1 died on the scene.

Who is their fault?

I've taken that bus a number of times. I can't imagine how scary that was. When I'm driving, Litchfield is one of my pit-stops.

A girl passenger they interviewed said they heard a loud bang BEFORE they hear the tire blow out, suggesting the bus ran over something other than just a nail on the roadway. Will NTSB be involved in this since it's interstate passenger transport?

"Only 1" eh....try saying that do the family and friends of the one that died....It would have been better and would have shown some "respect for the value of human life" if you instead had said..."Tragically 1 died at the scene".

Sounds like it could be a tool like a screwdriver or centerpunch.

Actually, I believe it was nailed. That's why they blew the tires off. It was somewhere on the highway.

I am so sorry for the victims.

Hope the driver and all those on board have speedy recoveries. Good on the School district to lend a hand, it is sweltering on that highway in the Summer. Litchfield is a good community. I grew up pretty close there.

So I have a similar experience with Megabus. I'll spare you all the details, but my Megabus, didn't blow a wheel, instead it shot it off into oncoming traffic. I ended up spending 3 hours on the side of the highway, and no one was hurt.

Also, a Megabus driver clipped a pedestrian in Chicago yesterday. Said pedestrian died today.

So I'm trying to raise awareness of what I perceive as Megabus' negligence (it was in my situation, unknown on the others). Any idea who to reach out to? Do I literally just call the NTSB?

LOL, this is the crappiest week for Megabus... can't be doing wonders for them in the marketing department. I'd be willing to swap out my $5 fares for $10 fares if they made serious moves to hire qualified, experienced safe drivers and to deploy safe buses.
