I forget, in 2008, did CBC put any Olympics coverage on their Bold channel? There's that option, and with just under two years until the 2014 Winter Games, they could easily apply for and get a license for a digital sports channel - even if it only airs during the Olympics.

they did - they put the equestrian events on BOLD, but they changed the name recently to CBC country or something like that and its still a digital must pay to get channel, but it is an option

Regarding the I believe song... remember during the 2010 Olympics when Lisa Laflamme got in shit for saying how annoying the song is? Now she's sitting in Lloyd's old chair and has to report from London, where they probably have the song on an endless loop in their mobile studio.

The cynic in me tells me they'll do one season, or maybe a couple, and then realize that they can get as good if not better ratings with much less hassle by simply continuing to run the American version like they always have.

Cases in point: Canadian Idol, Who Wants to be a Millionaire with Pamela Wallin, and probably a few others I am forgetting...

But at least Canadian Idol produced the singer who gave us the best Canadian song of all time:

Best Canadian song of ALL TIME? Are you sure? That covers a lot of songs...

Another scrapped Canadian version of a reality show: Canada's Got Talent.

Pretty sure he was being sarcastic. I sure hope so, because this so-called 'song of summer' is making me wish for winter pretty quick.

A few pictures from the Downtown Buskers Festival in St. John's. Most of the acts this year are Australian - and marvellously entertaining.

And the St. John's arrived back in port at the same time!
