Thanks Spyguy. Looking pretty darn sharp. I'm liking phase II a bit more than phase I at the moment based on these renderings, but looks very high quality overall.
So, the Chicago Journal reported that Ald. Reilly is insisting that there will indeed also be a future public school at Lake Shore East, in addition to GEMS. According to Reilly, building GEMS in no way releases Magellan from their obligation to build the infrastructure and shell for a future CPS school at LSE. Of course, date is unknown, as there is no CPS capital allotted at this time for the build-out of said future school, and there's no indication of optimism for such allottment at any point in the near future....
At any rate, I think this is great news to hear. I truly think there is an enormous demand for public school capacity in the greater Loop area that is not even close to being met (it's a bit of a chicken-and-egg game to quantify the demand in terms of actual numbers, because of course huge drove of parents end of moving away from the greater loop to the suburbs or other city neighborhoods - but probably largely to the suburbs - instead of dealing with what they perceive is a daunting challenge presented by lack of available slots at high-quality downtown area public schools, or parting with a fortune by way of a downtown area private school)...
