This is likely won't be in the same form, but something is happening at the site.

Revised site plan for this project here (Submitted October 25, 2011)

If it doesn't load the first time, just refresh the page.

You can scroll down to pages 15 & 16 for the elevations.

You can go here and click on the next to the last link and see that they applied for a crane permit on June 7, 2012.

Yeah, the building is now planned to be 253 feet tall with 24 floors. There's also another project planned for the block to the west of this one that will have about the same number of units. The emerging projects list mentioned it as a highrise tower.

Breaking Ground Next Month

Well, this was quick. 7RIO set to break ground next month, according to the Austin American-Statesman

Two more apartment towers planned for downtown
Architect: projects will make ‘distinctive’ mark on skyline

By Shonda Novak
American-Statesman Staff

Two towers formerly planned as condominium projects are moving forward as apartment buildings that will add more than 500 luxury units to downtown Austin.

Both projects are expected to break ground soon. One will be a 300-unit tower that will rise 19 stories — just under 200 feet — at 214 Barton Springs Road. Formerly slated for a condo project called Aquaterra several years ago...

We still haven't seen the official rendering yet, though. Just the building elevations from the site plans. Anyway, that's good news. It's going up in an area where there aren't many towers either. The tower will occupy the northwest quarter of the block. There aren't many towers around it either. 360 is two blocks to the south. 300 West Sixth is 2 blocks to the east. There's nothing of any major height west of it. And north of it the tallest building is the Travis County Jail 4 blocks away, but it's one block over. Immediately north of it there's nothing except 21Rio which is 14 blocks north of it in West Campus. So this building should stand out a little even though it's not all that tall.
