Yeah, since the river is so low the cleanup will be much easier this summer.

What town are you staying in?

Galva! Still like an hour from civilization in Rock Island, but i noticed that the landscape slowly improves as you approach I-80. Central Illinois is just so damn bleak.

So I got kicked out of bar in Portland for having a "bad aura." When I pressed the bartender for more details, she said it was because I wasn't tipping enough. I was tipping 20%. What. The. Fuck.

Ah yes, beautiful Galva. Once every summer or so we go down there to watch a movie at their drive-in theater. We have three to choose from and they're all about the same distance from here, away from the light pollution.
Here in the QCs, between two rivers, it's pretty wooded and hilly with some nice vistas from the ridge tops. Once you leave Rock Island County it flattens out completely with only clumps of trees around farmhouses. It can be depressing and bleak but sometimes the stark beauty really hits me........I still wouldn't want to live out there.

Anyway, as I've mentioned a few time in the last months, my home has been torn up since May due to extensive maintenance that had to be done to my building (replacing iron girders along the upper front wall) and they had to work from the inside and outside. After many setbacks, delays and living in horrible conditions and such it feels like I'm in the final stretch. Today we were painting the walls and I thought it would all be back in order by Friday night but noooooooo....the two cans of paint I bought from Sears don't exactly match. I'm going to have to replace these with two more gallons and do it over again. Well, hopefully by Sunday night it will finally be done.

hahah, holy fuck!

my drunk buddy "took" a six-pack from behind the bar once and only later when we found out we paid for it, and they were cool about that.

man, you'd never get kicked out of a bar in the midwest.

driving back i got kind of lost around the "spoon river" area, which was somewhat interesting. apparently galva got popped by a tornado at some point, explains the big open areas by/in downtown.

i'll be driving to Minneapolis in less than two weeks, hope to drive through the "Quads" and get some drive by shots. we will see. maybe i'll show up outside your place on crack or something, j/k.

It makes the work day go by faster, for what its worth. I just get tired of how everything has to turn into a giant fucking argument.

Really though, I'm not comfortable with the idea that I'm just supposed to take him at his word, without having a link and/or reference to where the numbers came from.

But that might just be the journalist/social scientist in me. Don't throw out "facts" without providing the data for validation.

I did remember that Galva was hit by a tornado but had to look up the date (April 1996).

......If you show up, make sure you have enough crack for everybody

Ex-Ith's sarcasm is greatly missed but appreciated. Those old Navy dudes have a sense of humor.

Can we please not refer to him in the past tense like that as if he is dead?
