I might expect that from the Donald, I definitely expect that from Rahm

So is their a chance of the Donald buying the Chicago Spire property, is that what you are talking about ? I could definitely see the Donald eventually building Chicago's and America's tallest building. If it wasn't for 9/11, Chicago would have a 600m building, remember the original trump proposal ? I think Trump wants to finish the goal he set out to achieve, which is, of course, building America's tallest building. Also, with all of his failures to build tall in NYC, I think he shifted his eyes to Chicago. I am not one of those people that needs an extremely tall building. Just a new tallest for America, with a roof height of atleast 450 meters, and a spire to compete with the 417m building they are calling a 541 meter building in NYC.

I remember Trump specifically saying "supertalls were dead" (his opinion, not mine) taking a cheap shot at the Spire and Waterview as they sat there stalled, coupled with the fact that he will probably lose money on the supertall he DID build, and I would imagine that he has lost the taste for building another. He might buy the property, but I would be shocked if he went supertall on it, then again, his ego is boundless, so who knows?

He said the Trump Chicago wasn't his worst or his best, it was somewhere in the middle, and considering that it happened during the recession, that isn't too bad, I expect him to eventually make a profit with it.

Another thing, make no mistake, Trump is a smart person, but I don't think he would miss out on a chance to have his own monument to his power. Within the next 10 years I expect to hear about a proposal for Trump Universal Tower, with a location along the Chicago river.

I also know there was an article where Trump said he was looking at some sites in Chicago for future building. Also, think about how much recognition he would have if his name was on America's tallest building.

I think I may have to eat humble pie on this one. Having spent some days in Chicago I am finding myself actually liking Trump Chicago now. It looks a lot better in person than it does in most photos. Although I still do not like the spire. I am sure it would look better without it.
