Finally after over a month.. Work has started again on this project. A digger was in there moving dirt all day on the southeast corner of the development.

It appears this project is on the verge of getting moving.

Il admit im a total nerd about this site. Having lived and worked in this area for almost 7 years now I am. Really excited about this project.

There are currently 3 excavators on site right now working from 7 am to when I leave work at 5. They have just started pouring cement on the north side of the site along marine drive.

We need pics!

I wonder if the status can be changed to U/C once we get confirmation of concrete being poured.

Now I'm just making a guess but I think the concrete he speaks of is for the hoarding along the sidewalk. Also it doesn't get changed to u/c until there is a crane up and even then it seems to take forever to change the status to u/c

I past by the site on Friday. They are excavating and shoring for the parkade. I don't get how that doesn't constitute "under construction" Sure, projects have stopped after the excavation, but they have also stopped at partial structural concrete, glazing, etc...

I went by on Saturday evening. They have lots of work to do. Excavation has basically just started. I wouldn't imagine we see a crane until early 2013.

Looks like any concrete pouring would be just be shotcrete for the the excavation wall shoring, at this point, and not for the actual construction of the building.

I was driving over the Arthur Laing during last week's hot weather and the odour from the transfer station was obvious even as far away as the bridge. I predict a flood of complaints the first summer residents occupy Marine Gateway.

Aren't they installing some sort of smell mitigation system?

Yup; and they're going to install a rain mitigation system as well.

RWDI Dispersion Modelling of Vancouver South Transfer Station Odour Emissions

(This is in the public domain. I downloaded it from the Marine Drive Gateway website when the project was first proposed. They provided links to these studies as a means to show that they had covered all their bases).

I hope it's better than the one in use by the rendering plant on Clark @ Venables.

Thanks for the pics, it has been fun for me watching the progress each day. Seems to be going down fast...

Yeah me too. You work in the area or go by daily?

I take a walk around the site every day at lunch.

And they do seem to be working pretty quickly here. Constant stream of dump trucks all day.

I actually live only 2 blocks away from the site, so every time I go to work or out I walk by, hehe. Can't wait until the structures themselves start to rise!

Here is the progress on Marine Gateway.
