Here's what Robert W posted on ssc about this.

If you can make out the small writing, you will see that the height measurement that almost goes to the very top says 845 feet

Go to Morali Architects page on Facebook, they have more drawings posted and keep updating them as the design process unfolds.

This reminds me of 1 Madison Park.

That would make quite an impact . . . essentially Beekman Place right up against the East River (speaking in terms of height).

New renderings, more detailed renderings have been released for this one. I wonder how much this one is a reality. There hasn't been much news other than these images from the architect's website.

I'm also having a hard time figuring out if this is a real proposal or a just vision.

I hope it doesn't get built. I think it's ugly and would totally ruin the wonderful view from Brooklyn.

This proposal is actually 904 ft. to top, according to the architect's website.

The original proposal was different, and was the 780 ft. figure.

Reminds me, vaguely, of the Calatrava design:

They're giving Calatrava a homage no doubt.

There's certainly a nod to the Calatrava design, but it's far inferior. The more I look at it, the more closely it resembles The Saya (One Madison Park) in midtown. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's just not nearly as good as it could have been with the Calatrava design. And in a city like NY, with as prominent a location as this, it's even more disappointing.

Not sure what looked so great about Calatrava's design that was ugly looking. The new one looks okay not great but okay.

The design has only gotten better, and that's a good thing.

I would say its no more vision than 80 South Street was.

Cord Meyer Development is the owner of the property and currently working out the specifics of air rights it has purchased over the years, and whether one half (150K square feet) of residential building will be allowed. Morali Architects has been posting renderings on its Facebook page along with notes on a planned mixed-use tower for the address.
Sounds like it may or may not be as of right. If a special permit is need for the site, it would have to go through the approvals process. But since the tower is still in the planning stages, its too early to say. They could decide to go in an entirely different direction.

There's not as much difference in these two designs visually as you might initially think...

Comparison with another planned tower of similar height (56 Leonard)
