Characterizing Camden as a "small" city is misleading, it is basically a part of Philly, it's a portion of a large urban area.

Flint is however a small city with a lot of problems.

Eh, I do not really agree with this. Even though it is literally right across the Delaware River it does not really act as a suburb. The vast majority of people work in Camden, Cherry Hill, and Pennsauken. On top of that it has more ties to Trenton, Atlantic City and NYC as the major gang that controls the city is the G Shine Bloods and the Mafia. Camden very much is a small city and its companies and employers were RCA, Campell Soup, and the shipyard. The race riots chased out most of the white people in the 1960s and the city has been struggling ever since. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean by misleading but it is definately its own city.

I just mean that it's not the same as a stand alone city with a small population that has a surprising amount of murders like a Flint, MI. It's part of a larger urban area or "city." What most would call the Philly urban area, and the population, culture, proximity and economy of the urban area has an impact back and forth amongst the municipalities within.

I def. agree with this. There is little interaction on the crime side between Camden and Philly.

A lot of this has to do with the gang make-up of Philly. Majority of Philly Gangs are street related and revolve around drug sales on their block.

Camden has more of a traditional gang make-up stretching to AC, Bridgeton and little areas in between.

Philly has more ties to Chester, Upper Darby, and now Norristown.

Rounding out the end of the summer, Philadelphia is at 240 murders as of today.

That's a murder rate of 15.6 per 100,000 so far this year.

Hopefully it will be a relatively peaceful winter.

A breakdown of the murders in each of the 12 districts of the city as I did before.

Center City- 2
University City- 1
South Philadelphia- 22
Southwest Philadelphia- 21
West Philadelphia- 28
Riverwards (Kensington)- 5
Lower North Philadelphia- 64
Upper North Philadelphia- 49
Olney/Oak Lane- 19
Upper Northwest (Germantown)- 10
Lower Northwest (Manayunk/Roxborough)- 0
Near Northeast- 18
Far Northeast- 1

I believe this is one more criminal homicide than last year, and it brings the rate to 6.9/100,000. It's looking like we'll have another bad year, and by bad I mean that a city of this size shouldn't have any of these kinds of murders, but which routinely averages 8 to 10 murders ever year.
