Excellent image. Was there too. An outstanding 20 minute display that I would expect to be national-class. The extra trailer of mortars on the bridge was a nice two-dimensional touch. Excellent crowd as well.
There was a particular munition used at the end that was a dazzling magnesium flash followed by a thundering percussion. I thought at the time that this might be the closest that I (thankfully) get to actual war.
30,000 people got together and zero problems. Some people may call this boring, but most places in the world would call that heaven. Oddly enough, this was very much unlike the traffic anarchy (and recklessness) seen a few hours earlier over European soccer.
To highlight my evening: went with a friend and had dinner and drinks at one of the finer downtown restaurants... then went down to Harris Park and watched "After The Lounge"... then went to the former APK and had a pitcher... returned to the park for fireworks... and then drinks over the campfire at a private residence with the last two groups to play that night. A very nice evening.
here is a nice one from TVC15 on Flickr. It shows both fireworks, and the city's newest skyscraper.
