East Coast Urbanity: New York, Boston, and a small town in-between.

I went to New York, and then drove to Boston. These are the pictures. Perhaps you may see a familiar face...

I arrived in New York very late in the evening. Luckily, Korean BBQ is a 24 hour endeavor.

The reason why I was in New York was to take a writing class at Sarah Lawrence. Writing Class was a 9-5 ordeal. Thus, I didn't have that much time to take pictures, which leaves me (and you) with rather truncated offerings.

I'd take the train there and back, which was a delightfully non-Angelino experience. I felt myself a local.

Drinking these was a bad life decision.

And then I drove seven hours to Boston. Along the way, my family stopped at this tiny sea-side town in Connecticut called Mystic.

We also stopped in Providence, Rhode Island. I got exactly one picture in Providence.

Pretty city, though. And then, on to Boston!

But first, dinner. Or a snack, really.

This is the most fantastic door I have ever seen.

And that's a wrap!

congrats on the course at Sarah Lawrence, America's most expensive college! It took you 7 hrs to get to Boston? It should only take 3 1/2. I'm guessing you added the time spent in Providence?

I've heard...things about this "east coast." Once I pointed my car in that direction but only found barren hills at the end of the shire and, discouraged, turned around.

Nice shots.

New Yawk, New Yawk. I just got back from my first trip there a few days ago. Took nearly 500 pics in 2 days. Will post some later. OMG what a place! I've got a good friend who lives there who showed me around or I would have been lost forever.

Looks like you ate well.

I see you got a picture of the White Horse Inn on Hudson St. That's kind of a literary landmark in its own way. In the bathroom people have scratched "Jack Go Home" into the wall above the urinals in a few places - this dates to when Jack Kerouac used to hang out there, and he was kind of a mean drunk.

I guess it's just me, but I only found the sandwich with onion rings and fries to look appetizing. =) Great shots you took, the clarity of your photos is outstanding.

Smile

Thanks a lot for your pics!

I´ve enjoyed watching NYC and Boston again. I´ve liked your pictures at Beacon Hill.

By the way, that coast town, Mystic, is very nice. Beautiful houses. Wonderful place to live in or to spend summer holidays!

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

Why do I always find myself very hungry after an Illithid Dude thread?

I see Theo has made another appearance.

This was my exact thought! Nice photos of Boston and NYC! Mystic looks like a quaint town too.

The White Horse is also where Dylan Thomas drank himself to death after downing 18 whiskeys. Lightweight.

Thanks everyone! I had no idea that The White Horse had so much history behind it. Leave it to SSP to be incredibly knowledgeable about such a seemingly hole-in-the-wall unknown random place.

That, the time I spent in Mystic, and we hit some traffic.

they took 95 all the way and made a couple of worthwhile stops instead of going north on 91 at New Haven to the Mass Pike then east. That's the fastest way but he'd have missed Mystic and Providence. The Conn coast and RI coast is littered with these gorgeous towns like Mystic which is probably the most famous because of the movie Mystic Pizza. Stonington CT and Wickford RI are my personal favorites
