That garage side looks pretty cool - at least, cool for a pattern to be viewed from afar. The proportions are nice, and it's not like pedestrians will ever be walking down there.

Does anybody have a shot of the Kinzie side?

I'm curious what Fifield's next act will be. Clearly they're experienced with working on a big scale on railyard sites. Maybe they might move on to the Rezko site/Riverside Park?

K2 is yet another condo building that would look amazing with a clear coat sealer on the concrete instead of paint. I'm surprised at how good this looks, and I wish more buildings would just leave the concrete alone and protect it with a clearcoat.

Thanks for the pics jc. This one is probably tall enough to merit it's own thread in the High-rise sub-forum, no?

I'm not sure where this best fits, but the past few mornings I've heard hammering in the Staybridge Suites building. There isn't anything big or obvious going on, but somebody's doing something.

It may actually be work. Although I don't know for sure. What I do know is that, barring some change from legal, it's looking like the hotel will be called "The Godfrey"

^ While I'm all in favor of dumping focus-group-determined corporate names, somehow I think "Godfrey" doesn't really go with this design...

There was strong urging to something more modern, truth be told though the hotel was almost just named after the owner. So you can imagine how much 'exploration' there was. I was pulling for 'Remarque' but it didn't even make the final 5.

The east bank club has got to go or at least be completely redesigned. It looks like a back alley warehouse in Seattle.

Actually I notice they are putting up exterior metal framing. That name is horrible - I see they're doing the trademarking for it, though.

I agree, kind of an eyesore.

Too bad it couldn't be made to resemble an industrial warehouse complete with river accessible docks.

I vote for the red brick factory look.

Wrong thread here, but since things are so quiet this weekend I'll just respond that the good news is that this building's stakeholders are all extremely image-conscious people, so the slightest amount of public ridicule should be enough to spur them to do something about it eventually. If only (for example) the Old Post Office were capable of adequate retrofit, they could just disappear from this location before long.
