Here are a few random shots from my first six months of living in Gananoque which is pronounced Gan-a-nok-way, however to the locals it is known simply as Gan. The town is located on the north shore of the St Lawrence river in the Thousand Islands region of Ontario 28 Kms East of Kingston. Gananoque is an aboriginal name meaning 'Town on two rivers', the population is approximately 5200. The town saw some action in the war of 1812 when American forces stormed a supply depot in the 'Raid on Gananoque'.
xzmattzx - True, however in the summer a lot of people have the same idea!
Bedhead - I had a look and it seems like it was a gift to the town from a well to do resident, This surprises me given the robust construction of the tower!
Charming little town. I like the pic of the little kid riding his bike on the sidewalk - I can hardly remember the last time I saw a child out "playing" - almost like a step back in time!
