New Canadian Basketball League?

So, came across this article by Gallagher on the Province about a Canadian basketball league, and possibly the Aquilini's being involved in this. Here's the link. What do you guys think?

http://www.theprovince.com/sports/ba...402/story.html

Personally. I don't see it flying, either the Aquilini's go NBA or bust. a league with a 300k salary cap? ugh. and what about rent for places like Rogers Arena? That's not going to come cheap. Can't see this being successful. And there has been moments in the past where people have tried to start something. Isn't there like a basketball league out east? Don't know how that's going...

Can't see Aquilini's being involved in this either, to be honest. They seem to be people who are going big, or go home kind of guys.

Yes, a $300,000 is not much. if there is 15 players per team, that would mean an average of $20,000 per player. That is painful

then what's the point of creating "another" league? couldn't they just expand the current league in ontario/maritimes over to the west?
