Construction begins on Bleu Ciel condo tower in Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood

Quote:
Developer Harwood International is starting construction this afternoon on the first Uptown condo tower to be built since the recession.

The 33-story Bleu Ciel residential high-rise will be built on North Harwood Street near the entrance to the Dallas North Tollway.

The luxury residential high-rise was designed by HDF LLC and architect Wilmotte & Associes S.A. of Paris.

The project will include groundfloor retail space and has access to the Katy Trail.

The building is scheduled to open in late 2016 or early 2017.

Harwood International also built the nearby 31-story Azure condo tower starting in 2005.

Bleu Ciel will have more than 150 residences starting in price near $750,000 and range in size from 1,300 to more than 7,000 square feet.

The modern and elegant 33-story tower will dazzle with floor-to-ceiling glass, soaring vistas, airy open-style interiors and sweeping terraces – redefining the Dallas skyline.

As the latest venture of esteemed developer, Harwood International, Bleu Ciel will stand in the heart of Dallas’ fast-growing Uptown district. The 18-city block district of HARWOOD envelopes residents in an environment of independent spirit and a wealth of progressive cultural, dining and sports venues.

If they designed that partial wrap into the building exterior, it would really stand out.

I like the original rendering better, but the newest one still looks good. The only thing I don't like is that they are calling it Bleu Ciel instead of Ciel Bleu, but whatever.

Why? Is it because you don't like the name or you think it is a mistranslation?

The name of the building is Sky Blue, as in the color aka azure, not Blue Sky, as in the sky on a cloudless day. I've heard others complain this is a mistranslation, but it isn't.

This is not a new render where there is a change in the look of the tower from the previous renderings. This is simply a render depicting the south side of the tower showing the elevated portion with the pool area.

Apparently a few weeks ago there was a meeting of the minds with neighbors to discuss how to make the area more walkable and opening the Katy Trail in between McKinnon and Harry Hines. Any excuse to connect the Oak Lawn area to the AAC/Uptown area is a good one in my book.

After a year of digging through limestone to construct the underground parking garage, Bleu Ciel is soon to go vertical.

Harwood's ultra-luxe skyscraper Bleu Ciel ready to rise into the sky
Candace Carlisle
March 30, 2016

Quote:
It's taken about 16 months for the Dallas-based development firm Harwood International to get ready to head sky high with its 33-story, ultra-luxury residential skyscraper, but that's just what the firm plans to do in the next week or so.
Quote:
So far, Harwood has put seven homes under contract in the last seven days, Jessica Young, a spokeswoman for Harwood International, told the Dallas Business Journal.
"Our housing team — Harwood Living — is ahead of the game," said Young, who said Bleu Ciel will have approximately 158 homes (depending on finish out) within the skyscraper.
Quote:
The architect of the project is Jean-Michel Wilmotte of Wilmotte & Associes S.A. in Paris.

Harwood International plans to start vertical construction on Thursday, April 7.
