What was that place called before? It was a dive. Is On The George a new place, or the old place rebranded?

Darn, I was hoping you were talking about this dump.

So, new parking lot going in?

Well it's not as bad as the favelah-shack that was mentioned before, but it does look pretty rough. I hate seeing boarded up buildings.

That eyesore was a sales centre for a failed condo development from the late 80's/early 90's. Glad to hear it is now down.

The lot is owned by a Toronto developer, forget the company's name. They proposed a LCBO/Shoppers/Rogers retail complex with condo units above.

I believe they tried to donate the land to McMaster at one point.

Not really a new parking lot. The property was a parking lot with a temporary structure on it. Now that the hut is gone, it's just all parking.

What does it mean if that property is (apparently) not profitable enough to develop? Adjacent to Hess Village, a fair amount of foot traffic...I don't get it.

It's not a demo. $200,000 apartment interior apparently.

Sounds like a sales centre probably for Darko's condo complex.

Billing itself as "Hamilton's Premiere Live Country Music Destination," Big Texas Saloon has been slowly making itself at home at 15 Hess South, former home of Rokbar.

BTW, here's what that address looked like in 1973.

I dont think Hamilton can continue to support 3 "country bars."

Dirty Dogs, Rock N Ranch, and this one, Big Texas Salloon.

Dirty dogs is by far the busiest of the 3 and has been around the longest. It is connected to 77 which appeals to the urban crowd.

I think Rock N Ranch is closed for the summer or something. Or at least the sign on the door said as much when I walked by the other day.
