CBC: Help us find an iconic Hamilton image

I figured I should share this article from CBC Hamilton. They are looking for iconic Hamilton images for their new website design. Best of luck!

Help us find an iconic Hamilton image
We're redesigning our web page and giving readers the chance to supply the banner photography

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilt...mage-1.3964233

We're getting a new web page design and we'd like your help giving it a special look.

Part of the design will be a picture spanning the top of the page. We'd like that picture to be one taken by one of you — one of our readers.

We have a prize pack of CBC goodies for the person who submits the photo chosen.

But even if you don't win, we'll also show off the best submissions in an article on our site, since we're always keen to share the excellent work of the city's talented amateur photographers.

But be advised, we have some unique needs for this photo:
  • It needs to be iconic — something recognizable as Hamilton (Is it a building? The Escarpment? A skyline?)
  • It needs to be very — as in very — horizontal in order to fit the space available.
  • It needs to be lighter and less busy on the right hand side of the image.
  • It will need to display well not just on desktop computers but also on mobile phones so the preferred image needs to work at all those sizes.

The submission deadline is Feb 24, at noon.

Send your submissions to hamilton@cbc.ca, and put 'Banner contest" in the subject line.

We'll announce a winner before the end of the month.

Note that the picture chosen will be the initial banner picture for the new web page, but that picture will likely change over time.

Nominated:

Peak morning rush, any weekday — a row of cars idling in the curb lane from Fas Gas to the Main West Tim Hortons drive-thru.

How about paying for photographs, CBC. You're a billion-dollar publicly-owned corp. "A prize pack of goodies", my a$$.

People make it seem like the cbc is sitting on an endless supply of cash. This is the same cbc that was stripped down to nothing the past decade.

And by scrapping a few coins CBC barely managed to give Hamilton come kind of service, a news website. No radio, at least not yet hopefully one day.

Iconic and current imagery: Terry's hairpiece... fighting with a pigeon over the remains of a Timbit (with part of an HSR transfer stuck to it)... at a bus stop on Upper James... in full view of a shocked and awed Donna Skelly.

Last edited by ScreamingViking; Feb 4, 2017 at 7:13 AM. Reason: included stronger HSR reference, for additional relevance
