Maybe you take the loop at the River Road interchange, cycle back over the highway so you're heading west, and then take the loop at the 91 connector?

Buuuuuuut, Tilbury bothers me. "Intersection" improvements. Don't three step this one, just make it an interchange now in this project.

On the plus side this project seems to be split 3 ways for the cost (The feds, the province, and the port all chipping in around 80 million. Even the natives are chipping in 3 million).

So it is good to see that so many levels understand what a cluster fuck the current design is.

Probably a typo but I like how Hwy 91 now becomes Hwy 9 on Annacis Island

In regards to eastbound SFPR to Hwy 91 movements:
I haven't travelled this area in a while so I'm not sure, but does the map show SFPR and Nordel Way still connected? Could you take a right from SFPR onto Nordel and then get to Hwy 91 that way?

Why do the interchanges look overly complex to me?

I'd say the opposite actually. These things seem like a sprawly mess. Who knows what the final design will look like though.

Construction is to start this year.

So not sure if there will be many changes to what we see now.

I always noticed that when he federal government is involved in a big way for highway projects it is more difficult to obtain schematics.

Definitely, this display board was obviously thrown together in a rush as a pre-election announcement.

As for the interchange, it also has the rail grade to contend with.

Given the major federal and port involvement, this doesn't feel as much as a "campaign" project as others IMO.

The counter flow on the Alex Fraser does though.

If anyone can find links showing more detailed designs for the new interchange I would love to see it.

No matter what it is going tone a rather large one that will involve several ramps if full free movement between the SFPR and the 91 is to be realized.

Ugh why? just what we need more traffic lights. Why not a roundabout? It's only two 2 lane roads intersecting.

Totally agree. Typical BC Government. Give them credit though look at Highway 91 and 72, still a damn light there. They should at least close 72 until that interchange is finished and let 91 north flow freely. Now if only they could upgrade the rest of the perimeter road.

I already stated that.

Wish there was a way to comment on this project directly, and ask for it to be upgraded to a full interchange (then the SFPR would at least be free flow from where its splits with the old 17 to just west of the Pattullo Bridge).

But it feels more like that his is already a done deal, given the imminent expected start (this year) and the fact that it has been in planning since June last year.

What are they doing on Clark Drive between 12th Avenue and Kingsway? There has been a major construction going on for a while now.

Knight Street Water and Sewer Upgrades

they are also replacing the barrier on the "S-Curve" with a permanent one, built in, instead of the jersey barriers.

I'm always impressed by people's ability to launch their cars over those barricades somehow.

I got into the habit of watching "idiot drivers" videos on YouTube for a while and it's pretty scary what all that kinetic energy can translate into when you're traveling at speed.
