High Rise Air Conditioning

My apartment in the Essex Fox Plaza has a glass wall, floor to ceiling, and I am lucky to have a patio door that opens on a sunny hot day. NEMA has tiny windows that open at the bottom of the room which does not allow for hot air to exit the rooms. And these windows to not open all the way! Incomprehensible to.

Flow through ventillation may be the key--I have one bedroom that faces east and one that faces west with a hallway between. The west-facing room can heat up a lot on warm afternnoons but when there's hardly a perceptible breeze if I open the west facing window and a glass door in the east facing room there's a hurricane blowing through that cools things off very quickly.

Wonder if the mesh screen over the crown skeleton will start rising before the glass reaches the top

Probably not. I assume they'll continue the rise of the curtain wall.

Once all the mesh and skin goes up to the top of the crown, the tower will be a bit taller than it is now, which is nice because it still doesn't look complete the shape it is currently, needs a little bit more taper

View from Sansome/Sutter/Market

A nice view between two high rise buildings on Market Steet.

The Final Piece?

A view from the Civic Center of the "railing" being installed. The workers give a perspective as to how high it is.

^^^Nice shot Jerry of the crown detail. Looking at the different levels, in my estimation, the first walkway is at 970', the second at 1000', the third at 1040', leaving the top walkway at 1070'. So cool. They often point out that US Bank Tower will "still" have the highest occupiable floor but these SFT crown levels allow human access to walk around and are definitely the highest of any structure west of the MS. ;p

^^Are those clearly visible stairways part of the permanent structure or temporary scaffolding? They look like they could be either. If they are permanent, then "regular folks" could, under special but not really unlikely circumstances be allowed up there such as I was on my "special" GG Bridge tour.

Salesforce Tower Tops Off As the Tallest Office Building West of Chicago

Boston Properties, Inc. and Hines announce the topping off of Salesforce Tower – not only the tallest building in San Francisco but also the tallest west of Chicago.

A ceremony will be held to celebrate this major milestone on Thursday, April 6, 2017. The event will begin at 10:30AM with remarks from San Francisco’s Mayor Edwin Lee, Supervisor Jane Kim, Salesforce Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff, Boston Properties Executive Vice President Bob Pester and Hines Senior Managing Director Paul Paradis.

“Boston Properties is honored to lead a project that is bringing so much attention and new energy to San Francisco” commented Bob Pester, Executive Vice President, San Francisco Region for Boston Properties. “Designing and developing a building that is a beacon to our city and will be the first thing you see coming into the City has been very rewarding. We look forward to celebrating this important moment with our partners.”

“It’s tremendously gratifying to see nearly a decade of design and planning finally approach the finish line. And at this point, the building is exceeding even our most optimistic expectations,” said Paul Paradis, Hines Senior Managing Director. “The building will be unlike anything in the market and it has been designed to provide maximum efficiency and flexibility to suit today’s workforce.”

It seems odd that on the south side they have only one floor left on which to install windows whereas on the north side they still have 13 floors. It's almost as if they are purposefully preparing the south side for a "topping off" close-up photo.

Something is now protruding from the top of the tower. It showed up yesterday afternoon. Perhaps Jerry can get a good look photo of it.

No. Those on the north side are just working too slow. We should check and see if Chinese men are working on the south side and Americans are working on the north side. That would explain a lot.

Could be a manlift. Compare on the webcam to the mainlift on the north side.

I agree and reported him to the moderators. There are several of them on here and I've begun to suspect that one person has multiple identities since they seem so similar. Justbuildit, you don't understand San Francisco and have no place here. The majority of your comments are mindless and juvenile, at best.
