I guess they are gauging the redevelopment down at Queens Quay, before greenlighting a similar overhaul on Yonge.
With all the re-development occurring on Yonge it's probably wise to put off any major investment in the public realm till most of it is done. The sidewalks will surely get widened but I'd be surprised if the big overhaul happens before 2025.

I'd like to see the road and sidewalks paved in a similar material with no elevation variation between the 2. Auto lanes should be reduced to 1 lane in each direction and bollards installed that can disappear into the pavement. This way the whole downtown stretch could be pedestrian only on weekends. It would allow for the continued use by events like the Gay Pride parade.

That centre median between Gerrard and College has to go too.

Another inane melodramatic post from you. The sidewalk can be overcrowded at peak periods but, that hardly makes the double width sidewalks incredibly thin an dangerous or Yonge a roadway that begrudgingly allows pedestrians. This country is full of urban one way avenues that act as high speed commuter highways. It's also ridiculous to conclude you can't sit on a patio between Union and Dupont and watch the crowds of people on Yonge just because there aren't any patios allowed directly on the boulevard.

He said pretty much the exact same thing a few months ago and I linked to about a dozen google streetview scenes along downtown Yonge street that showed patios with people eating and drinking literally just a few feet off to the side of the sidewalk -- plenty of places to sit and watch the crowds go by.

I guess looking at my links would have imploded his internally hard wired beliefs regarding Yonge Street, so he ignored them.

Good canyon west of Jeanne-Mance, but I would like to see more consistent density between the AC Hotel and the CHUM.

Amazing Montreal, Toronto and especially Halifax (!) canyons up here.

Also, the AC Marriott is surprisingly nice. Now, Rene-Levesque needs a lot more love on its eastern side.
