That brick should look really nice once it's cleaned up. There are some nice patterns (the arches, the horizontal courses every 5th row of the second floor, and the recessed vertical sections flanking the windows on the taller portion)

While they're at it they should fix up/clean/repair the building beside it - the yellowish one.. it's sad that that one clearly had architectural elements they sheared off - most likely to put a sign on the front of the whole thing..

Also you can see some of the original colour of this building if you look at the sides that recess in where the windows are.. some nice reds in there

Also here is a shot of the original buildings attached to it- not sure what they plan to do with that tiny piece left still clinging to the side of the building, if they will ever properly shear that off or not..

I'm kinda most excited to see what they'll do with the Tip Top Tailors part of the building. It almost seems older and more interesting than the part of the building to the South.

^^ I really love the look of those buildings.
That specific shot could pass as a section of New York City (ignoring that there would be more people in the shot).

Now if we could get some progressive developers to go down James North a little further, to the SE corner at York.

Two beautiful buildings hidden at street level by the usual crap.

yes I often look at those and think to myself that it wouldn't take much to make them pop - - just a little bit of restoration.

I'm sure they'll remove it. When the previous building beside it was demolished, they probably just left that bit attached instead of risking the structural integrity of the Tip Top building beside it. Those old buildings were built ridiculously close to each other. In this case you can actually see doorways and things on the side of the Tip Top building, hinting to the fact that they were connected on the inside. That would have made demolition even more tricky. Now that Core Urban is doing the entire neighboring building, they can take their time with taking that old chunk off.

here's to hoping they don't just take that off, they reconnect something next to it eventually!

O no those cars are in the shadow of a five-story building. We must not have shadows cast from high-rises downtown. Or let's make-up a new NIMBY; no buildings taller than the mountain bullshit.

Cant imagine Desantis is thinking "we really need to maintain this surface parking lot to complement the wall" . With development now completely surrounding the lot, hope we see something soon.

Core is doing both buildings? Did they buy the other one from the Accardis?

I thought there would still be some nice original facade in that 2nd story portion of Tip Top and it looks like I was right. A bit damaged but I'm sure it can be cleaned up and repaired with replicated pieces.
