I really really like this one. The podium could use refining, but other than that, i wish they would break ground tomorrow. I guess it gives us something to look forward to... So whats next to break ground, in regards to big projects? Grand ave, City century, Luxe, the one next to 1050, The one next to Circa?

Just look at all those cranes. While the Circa cranes will be going down, the Onni and 28 story cranes should be going up soon. Oceanwide is picking up the pace. I wouldn't be surprised if they topped out by Fall.

I didn't even notice Apex 2 in this shot until post. CIM is nearing topping out. It's such a great addition. I wish we had another 20 of these all around the skyline. Great infill.

This tower is going to be an absolute monster. It'll make Atlier seem like a stump. It's also rising extremely quick.

They were removing the crane from Broadway Palace so this view will no longer be obstructed! The city is slowly starting to come together and fill up.

How about a 126 foot spire to become the tallest in the city? Think BIG! 975' + 126' spire = 1101'. Come to think about it, Library Tower/US bank could add a spire to reclaim it's rightful title to be the tallest. It really is. From the observation deck, you look down on everything else, including WG.

Amazing growth over the last 50 years. I'm old enough to remember when City Hall and Occidental Tower (now "USC" tower) were the only skyscrapers downtown. What makes DTLA special is the mix of old and new. Bunker Hill Victorians are gone, as is the magnificent old Richfield Tower (I remember it fondly as a kid, with the "oil derrick" spire lit up at night), but everything east of Hill St. is pure 1920s, or almost so. Happy these old buildings are being revitalized, including the huge old movie palaces.

Are they testing new lights on the Aon Center? In Hunters pictures, specifically the 11th from the top, you see some new patches of multicolored lights on the crown of the building. I noticed the same thing with different colors while watching a live news broadcast that had the skyline in the picture last week. Anyone have any insight on this? It would be quite timely considering this talk of the LA Times moving to the Tower.

As usual, forumers like you & mojeda bring some new life to this thread.

what a relief to see the sparkle bldg finally cleaned up. there was talk some time ago from I believe the bldg's previous owner who had plans to renovate it & install her business on the ground floor. or something like that. but nothing ever came of it.

i can see at the middle right side of the 2nd pic the location of the apt tower proposed by equity residential, to the south of the grand central mkt across from angel's flight. That area really needs to be finally cleaned up....if only cuz many tourists & day trippers are drawn to that part of dtla.

the only totally new devlpt still on the drawing board that I'm really waiting to see break ground asap would be the grand ave proj. Even the proposed tower at 4th & broadway is a bit less pressing than the one at 4th & hill tower now that the land for the broadway proj has been cleared out.

which can't be said about this bldg so far.....more unfortunate too if it's a ptomaine pit.

Food poisoning, food poisoning, food poisoning...! Twice! Fool me once, shame on you... The first time, it was the cheeseburger combo and I had to miss work (thought I was just sick). The 2nd time was the carne asada burrito...(yes, I'm a jackass for having a 2nd time, but...) So, don't be deceived by the low prices (even though they generally denote subpar ingredients)...avoid at all cost.

Telling you only from experience. Plus, Grand Central Market is just up the street, no need to eat at a place that cooks actual tripe on the same grill as the meat for your burgers or burritos...

^ for the past several months I've been checking the yelp page for taco house #1. I keep hoping that I'll see the same update for it as occurred to another taco house in dtla.....in a location where the new frankentower apt bldg on spring st is now going up.

time for taco house #1 on hill st to also get a move on...a big heave ho.

I've seen those new lights on the Aon Center too. If it's a for sure thing and those lights stay on, I hope they do something similar like USBT and WG. Also, we need 777 Tower to get its white lights changed during the holidays. I think they stopped this practice in the late 90's when I was still a youngin'.

Glare or no, thanks for the aerial views of South Park. Remembering the parking lots from just a few years ago and seeing the buildings under construction now really drives home how dramatic the past few years of construction have been. But more importantly, congratulations on your new citizenship and thank you for contributing to our nation!

While we still have a number of them, it's insane seeing the vast exodus of parking lots in Downtown. It won't be long before we hear of small buildings and warehouses being demolished for development projects.
