If it's anything like the retractable lower-bowl seating at Harbour Station in SJ, then each tier will have seats that collapse forward to just barely fit into the gap between it and the tier above. Then they roll in (wheels on the bottom) to stack up vertically into a space the depth of a single seating tier. Not unlike the way wooden bleachers collapse into a straight stack, just with the added step of the seats folding forward along the way.

I was looking at the curbs for Highfield Street extension around the centre. Does anyone know where the disabled parking is (I assume there are a few spots) and is there a dropoff point somewhere for taxis? Thanks.

A lot of your questions would be answered in the "Downtown Transportation Dispersal Plan". Here's the link:
http://www.moncton.ca/Assets/Busines...NG/TDP-PTR.pdf

Accessible transit will have their own drop off point on the Highfield Street extension right in front of the main entrance:

Accessible Parking will be further down the Highfield Street extension, closer to the rail tracks:

Looks like over 500 seats have already been installed on rows 16-28 behind the visiting team net.

We have a winner for the public art piece to be placed in the plaza in front of the events centre:

Not my first choice, but whatever..........

I'm disappointed mostly because it would have been nice to see the marble ones or something without words... but I guess that's the cities decision.

I'm just glad they didn't spend twice the money to have it in two languages.

So... how long until someone mistakes it for scrap metal and hauls it away for recycling?

What bothers me about this choice is that "Resurgo" is the city's motto right now, but what about in 40 years or so? Besides the literal definition of the word, Will people even know why it is there?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. No bilingualism though as it is Latin and means "I rise again". Could be appropriate as the risen Highfield Square? This thing is big, I was looking at the outline of a person standing next to it. I much would have preferred the granite or marble one, but what will be will be. At least it cost under $200K and we probably have an idea of where it will be placed now.

As someone not familiar with Moncton and its motto, I had no idea what that thing meant. Hell, I didn't even parse the base of the sculpture as an "O" until the post above that said the motto was "Resurgo".

I guess it looks okay enough, but for out of town visitors, it's going to be a bit of a headscratcher I think.

I'm sure the city's motto isn't going to change. The motto was chosen when Moncton reincorporated in 1875. Resurgo is an excellent motto, representing ambition, optimism and growth. It's also in Latin which should satisfy any concerns regarding bilingualism (although Nova Scotia is Latin and the French insist on calling it Nouvelle Ecosse).

The new monument will be large - 7M, which is over 20 feet.
