I kind of thought La Defense was the downtown/city center of Paris but I guess not.

^ What we call La Défense is that business district that sits on 3 suburban municipalities. Those of Courbevoie, Puteaux and Nanterre. The district area even encompasses a bit of La Garenne Colombes today, a 4th suburban town. Its administrative boundaries were recently enlarged.

None of this is on the Central (City of) Paris territory. But the population density of these suburbs is close to that of the central city proper, so you could call la Défense 'downtown' by North American customs indeed, as it is by far the most visible high-rise cluster of the metro area. That's no problem at all, at least to me.

Do you think this could be approved in a near future? Excuse my English, that would be too f€cking good for now. I don't dare believe it (yet). I guess once more, much patience will be required before we get another tower over the Clichy-Batignolles area.
Although I may be overly skeptical or pessimistic here. But it would depend on the goodwill of the (conservative) mayor of the 17th arrondissement. The conservative branch of the inner city is not really in favor of high-rises over their territory.

Hmmm, I thought I was going to end up liking this one, but the slight blue tint to the glass makes it stick out in a bad way. The glass either should have been reflective, and or just clear. Actually, if it was similar in color to the Bibliothèque nationale de France, that would have been nice, too. Something about sky blue doesn't work in Paris, IMO.

Sky? They would call it "bleu piscine" here, like the bottom of a swimming pool.
It's camouflage, gentlemen! Ha ha, it's supposed to be invisible.

Whatever, it's just another building in the middle of thousands, not really tall enough to be anything significant.
In fact, I even kinda like it. The looks of it depend on weather.

Now from a mere utilitarian standpoint, its carbon footprint might turn out outstanding, since it's been designed to be highly energy-efficient.
I suppose we'll have reports about its actual performances in that respect. That will be interesting to see.
