I've seen it up close in person and in many photos. The top of the WTC (rings and antenna) looks quite makeshift (sloppy). It really detracts from the whole building, unlike the glorious spire of the Chrysler building.

Maybe in the future when this building has some years on it, maybe like other Skyscraper Icons it will get a huge renovation overhaul. Meaning when the time comes to spend money on it they may indeed upgrade the spire into what it was actually really intended to be. Fingers crossed...
