Have we seen the Daily Mirror's run down on 940 Highland on the thread before?

She relates this info from a 1990 permit, "the first floor will see demolition and reconstruction for offices".

The last veterinary practice moved out in 1986.

Interesting that the neon Dalmatian wasn't added to the 1929 building until 1959 (although there was apparently some other dog up there).

Two Olympic gold medal swimmers were competing for the lead role in the first Tarzan series. Johnny Weissmuller won the part, but the younger, more classically handsome runner up, Buster Crabbe would go on to a more lucrative and varied career. With such an angelic face, it's no wonder.

Buster Crabbe did eventually star in one 12-part Tarzan serial, released in 1933 and later re-cut and released as a feature. Wikipedia has a poster for episode 12 which is a classic. Crabbe has to have been the most boyish Tarzan ever:

Recut and released as "Tarzan the Fearless," The Crabbe Tarzan (almost certainly stunt doubles) featured aerial stunts that boggle the mind. Compared to Weismuller's restrained vine-swinging, the swings here are truly breathtaking. I guess, during the Depression. You could get acrobats to take genuinely insane risks.

¾ part lemon juice
¾ part grilled peach sherbet*
2-3 mint leaves for garnish

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a rocks glass. Garnish with mint leaves and top off the drink by flaming ground cinnamon.

I like mine without alcohol so substitute the Maker's 46 with a fruit juice of your choice.

To make peach sherbet recipe: Grill 2-3 peaches, until nicely charred. Mix the peaches in a blender with a roughly equal amount of white sugar and strain.
