Re: Union West

This looks amazing. I just have one hair to split and that is with the townhouses. The mansard/Empire/Dutch Colonial whateveryoucallit styling seems much more appropriate to say Philadelphia than Chicago. I'll take it, but it would have been nice to reference a local vernacular a bit more competently.

The townhomes on morgan are already there, not part of the development

How long do y'all think it will be until the PoMo midrises in West Loop are torn down and replaced?

Yep, and they are condos not townhomes, I bought one of those condos in 2008 funny enough. They've been there for >10 years.

^ The Tower is nice, but that white-gray blue coloring on the side is God awful. I hope that’s not gonna be visible from Michigan Avenue in perpetuity. If so, it will really ruin the building

I’m surprised they didn’t go with green. Rush University is opening an outpatient facility in the base.

I honestly don't understand why developers go with those weird colored patterns on new buildings. It almost always looks bad.

I think the dark grey looks great. Keep in mind that it's the end of another long winter and that color is nearly traumatic rn. In the summer it will offer a lot of depth.

I would imagine it would entirely depend on ho long that parking lot sticks around. I believe it belongs to the 1439 S Michigan building. Considering there are balconies overlooking the parking lot, the residents there may not want to part with it anytime soon, assuming its a condo development. If its a rental building, its a different story altogether.

I was just looking back at the Tribune Tower redevelopment and the 3D model rgarri4 has of the city. With Vista, Aon, Two Prudential Plaza, Trump Tower, Tribune Tower redevelopment, Wolf Point South lurking in the back. We should call it "The Billion River" get it like Billionaire row? Pretty cool idea to be honest.

^ Dumbest thing I’ve read on here in a while and that’s saying alot. I don’t know why people think it’s necessary to post every dumb thought that pops up in their mind.

And here we have a great example of a pointless comment on this forum. A simple "I prefer Chicago River" would have been fine. Have a good night!

Sort of new to this forum (not really I've been reading for a year) I'll make sure to keep my incredible thoughts to myself next time.

People on the internet can be jerks. I, personally, got a chuckle out of your suggestion.
