Between this and the PHA site there has been a lot of room for improvement on this stretch. No matter how you spin it, the Target, Boyd restaurant and apt tower are a big time improvement over what was there.
My interest is piqued. What does one have to do to get banned from here?

Steel is now above ground level here. This thing is going to start rising pretty quickly -i can see it being topped out by July/August.

One thought regarding 1911 across the street. Could the construction start delay of 1911 till 2019 be more about logistical issues and less about financing and viability? I mean, these projects are right across a small street from one another and getting massive trucks in carrying steel and the never-ending flow of cement mixers, hundreds of workers and pickup trucks - multiple massive crane booms....is there just logistically not enough space for it to be safe for cars/pedestrians/workers?

Your concerns might make sense to you, but if 1911 wanted to start and had their permits in order who would/could tell them not to go ahead and build. Maybe the City could delay them over closing the sidewalk on Sansom, but the City is in the business of trying to help this type of project, not hold it up.

Plus, if needed, the builders could use the 20th & Sansom lot as a staging area for the tower and then build out that lot at the tail end of the job. The builder has no obligation to provide parking for the workers, just for the suppliers, IE a loading dock. I know elevator time is very carefully scheduled months in advance, meaning somebody doesn't just show up with a load of X. Look at the W build, there's no room at all for anything, and they seem to be doing ok. And lastly, I'm guessing but this will probably be a concrete structure, so after the foundation is dug, there will be a steady stream of concrete trucks and not much else for the first year or so.

I'd say 1911 is still designing the project, trying to lease the retail and trying to pre-sell condos, doubt this would be why it's not starting now.

Other way around. It was poured concrete 2/3 of the way up then steel took over.

No the steel was used for the lower office portion and the upper floors were concrete.

Are you talking about the floors and columns? Not just the core?

Yes, FMC office portion is steel construction for floors and column and then transitions to concrete after the 28th floor. Look back at the thread. Or see links: http://www.turnerconstruction.com/ex...a-centre-south
http://www.madisonconcrete.com/news/...to-28th-floor/

The core, of course, is concrete.
