LA cuts required parking spaces for Angels Landing mega project

https://therealdeal.com/la/2018/04/0...-mega-project/

"The development team behind one of Downtown’s most ambitious projects is banking on a less car-dependent future for Los Angeles, a move that could also increase the amount of commercial development in the city.

Claridge Partners founder Ricardo Pagan said earlier this week that the 2-million-square-foot mixed-use Angels Landing project will have just 465 parking spaces for 675 residential units, two hotels, food hall, an elementary school, and 45,000 square feet of retail space. Pagan made the comments at a Bisnow event."

That isn’t the final design right? Just an idea what it may look like?? I’m sure it’ll be tweaked a bit... hopefully to add a decorative top like a spire or crown. That tower has so much more potential.

Im sure it will be tweaked. I like it a lot but if they can finish off the top of the tower, i would LOVE it. This has the potential to be the best building in LA, if not the state.

I was thinking the same thing. Things rarely get built on time in LA.

I'm very much looking forward to when they change the seats.

Fun fact - around 10,000 units are currently under construction in DTLA, after 5,500 opened in the last two years. Impressive.

Won't be long before Downtown joins the 100k+ neighborhoods. It's insane to think the population was only 27k in 2000. In 2017, BID did a study and said the population was 67k.

Have we been following leasing rates for buildings open a 6 months to a year? Would be interested to see how takeup is for the new luxury products. Those kinds of stats are critical for future rental projects getting financing.

Building looks a lot better than previously proposed. But dammit if the top is not a huge mess. Its like they did not know what to do so they put a lid on top loosely.

Agreed. For the most part, I really like this. But that top, how’d that become part of the design. I guess this means Onni still has faith in the market, and it’s continued success? Honestly, part of me was afraid we were coming to the end of this cycle.

Another shot of it :

The residential units that back up to the Mayan and Bolasco theaters better come with some sound proofing. They are home to some of the biggest after hours events in the city.

Oh man. Looks like the "asshat" trend isn't going away anytime soon.
