Not sure what the park at CIBC Square is really going to look like, but here is my take on it:

Sorry for nitpicking but the ACC isn't on an angle like that. It's built parallel to Bay not the Gardiner. Btw, thanks for all the renderings. They're very interesting.

I'm not familiar with the renovation but isn't this a temporary structure built on the outside courtyard? As nice as it is, it's likely not attractive when viewed from the outside. Any addition to the Parliament Building won't look right.

No, the glass structure over the West Block courtyard is permanent. It will house the Commons for ten years, starting next year (if you want to visit Centre Block, the clock is ticking!). It is virtually invisible from the street.

Thanks for the clarification. I did have the fortune of visiting Centre Block twice. I'm a little surprised that they've tinkered with it in this way. A new sunken addition with a skylight would have been preferable. The Louvre in Paris did something similar with its glass pyramid jetting out of the courtyard.

The new underground visitors centre, to the west of the Centre Block follows a much more traditional approach. It is supposed to open soon, I think.

Thank you for the links. Looks like I'll need to make another trip to Ottawa when it opens.

Actually it's parallel to both, but I don't have the ability to make an object that shape, so I put the long side beside the Gardiner.

I never noticed that before. I assumed it was a rectangle.

That's all right, thanks anyways. It doesn't make it into many screenshots, and it's one of only a few low-rise buildings on the model.

Not as good as the renders of course, but I think it gets the point across:

Thats what I meant.
Fair I guess, but they're paying very real rent to another landlord already so it's not like it's fake money.

Also important to remember that CF (OTPP) is only part owner in the site, IMCO who represents OPB and WSIB is also an owner, so they're not really leasing to themselves.

One of the points made was that they are likely paying a lot less rent now than they will in 160 Front. ( regardless if they were to pay "rent to themselves" or lose the rental revenues from not being able to lease the square footage they occupy)
