You guys are not understanding the perspective between the two pictures that are being compared. It looks just as expected. No worries.

I gotta laugh. 12-13 floors of parking? Beyond aesthetics, has anyone ever parked on a floor over 6 at a garage? Its nauseating to go in circles all the way down. On top of that, its not exactly quick and easy. Good luck to anyone who wants to use a spot up on 10 for daily use.

You wanna get dizzy in a parking garage then go use the Hancock's self park. If you can make it past the spiral ramp there's like 10+ floors of parking to zoom through.

There's very clearly a 4-5 floor chunk cut out there. It's not a perspective issue at all

Doesn't necessarily mean the building is shorter... possibly they decided it was better to have the mechanical equipment on a lower floor even if the total number of stories remains the same.

The general jumpiness around height reductions is hilarious to me, I really don't care. It will be the tallest building on Grant Park South in any case and fills a notable hole in the streetwall.

If it's anything like the other garages in the area, it will only fill up on Bears game days.

Alright, so which one of us is going to count floor plates between the 2 renderings and end this silly argument.

NEMA is a 76-story architectural icon designed by Rafael Viñoly, located on Grant Park, with a soul that is 100% "Made in Chicago"

still says 76 - hasn't changed

There's been no mention of a shorter building or less units, which isn't to say that setbacks weren't adjusted.

People need to stop bitching and freaking out.

I'm sure that significant changes would have been reported.

I did a "quick count" and total floors from that top step seems the same on both renderings. i did not count the whole building though

What a beast!

If they do build a taller twin will the setbacks be on the west?

Starting to make its own skyline statement. Crane can be seen even with OMP's crown, and it's noticeably wider than OMP/OMPW behind it.

I am still not sure if I like this building yet, but one thing I think would have been better is if the buildings parking garage was facing south rather than west. Then you would have more of the buildings Sears like stagger facing the park and the ugly parking garage would be mostly hidden. Now we have to wait 5 years for it to be hidden by another building.

The parking garage faces South as well, it's already blocked off from most vistas though because of large buildings behind it. It'll be covered up soon anyway
