@300_main Elevator shafts coming in nicely- up to floor #2 with tons of progress planned for the weekend. A construction project of this magnitude taking place in #Winnipeg is rare- and even rarer considering not a cent of public money is involved.

This seems like a nice subtle dig as TNS announces the public subsidies have doubled. Nice.

Funny timing with Carbone Downtown rebranding to Carbone Cafe Club... I was told that Artis has had conversations with Cactus Club Cafe about taking the Main restaurant space. No clue if the talks went anywhere, but it would make a lot of sense. They tend to be smaller than Earls/Joey, and it's quite surprising they're not in MB yet – would make sense for them to open a downtown flagship here first.

Finally some noticeable progress this week. The removal of the skylight roof has begun.

I would love to be wrong but the new ceiling in WS looks very permanent. Would be great if they rip it open in a couple years, but I have doubts.

I'm taking the optimistic approach that yes it will be removed. Hopefully I'm not disappointed.

Yes, isn't the main floor of 330 Main going to have an opening looking down into Winnipeg Square?

That was the original plan for the hotel 40 years ago. I don't think we've seen anything confirming that is still the plan. But we're all hoping and I'm assuming that's what will happen.

I've seen renders and have heard confirmation that 330 will open up to the square below, and that there still is skylight, albeit a smaller one. While I often say that renders only mean so much, I heard the verbal so I think we can be optimistic.

The current new ceiling is just pretty well done... and considering what's getting removed overtop, it has to be.

They have already ordered the escalator for that part of 330. If they don't remove the roof you are going to bump your head on the escalator to nowhere.
There's a cut-out on the floor and an escalator pit already as well. It goes east to west.

So not sure if this is the best place to post this as it’s technically a different building, but it appears the construction on the Scotiabank atrium for Kidthink has already started!

In the big main area that has been cleared out for some time, massive drywall framing is going in from the floor to the top roof of the atrium. That would seem to explain where the offices are going.

I didn't know this was a "done deal" yet! Even if they are just prepping the safe, it's good news (and hopefully more impetus to open P & M)

^ I'm not optimistic about this Kidthink project... something about it just smells funny.
