How many levels below ground ?
At grade by first quarter 2019 seems rather speedy.
Regardless, this one and CIBC will be exciting to watch.

It's only 4 levels below grade, so if they've reached the bottom it shouldn't take long at all to reach grade. Keep in mind the first quarter could take us up to March but I guess it will depend on how good or bad this winter is. Good weather no reason why they couldn't hit street level early January.

I dont understand how they can fit all the parking for an 85 floor building in only 4 levels. Perhaps half of the owners just use limousines.

I kind of disagree. Bright white would have been awful but some lighter color would have been better IMO.

I was in Calgary a couple of weeks ago and was driving in from the north and I liked the way the building filled a void from the north and from the east coming down into downtown. However, it was around 11 AM and a cloudy day and the building looked really gloomy with the dark exterior. You can see what I mean somewhat in post 5930. It was a very dark day when I saw it and the exterior cladding looked even more depressing than that picture. It is definitely much better in bright sunlight and I suspect when it is complete an din use and with the LED lighting, it should be okay.

I also am not a big fan of the white balcony doors which would have looked much better in black or grey. Also not a fan of the side transition from the office section to the residential nor how it looks in some shots where the bottom looks very fat and goes to very skinny like in post 5961. Looks out of balance from certain angles.

That all being said, it is a very very nice building and overall it has some great views and is a great addition to Calgary's downtown and skyline.

The parking is valet and my guess would also have some sort of automated system to use space more efficiently. Aslo the building only has 416 units with direct access to 2 subway lines so even though most of these people could afford to have a car or two I bet many of them don't even drive. It's actually funny after living in the city now for over 10 years how many of my friends don't have cars or even have a licence.

I love it's colour, many of my favorite modern skyscrapers are black like the Hancock, TD Centre, 53W53, Willis Tower to name a few. Even on days like you described I love that gloomy feel they ad. I do agree about the sliding doors though, they should have been darker but that still doesn't change my mind about this being my favorite U/C tower in the country right now. With so many blue or silver towers going up everywhere it's nice to see other hues thrown into the mix.

Private Driver, big black Toyota Avalon, or Genesis style.
