Thanks for the updates. I can't believe how long this is taking. I think the entire Arbutus extension will be faster.

The entire Stadium-Chinatown stationhouse is getting enclosed in a tent.

Ya, I mentioned that a few posts back. Still haven't figured out what work will be going on.

So sad... that station could use some updating to make it brighter.

Probably planned for when they do the more extensive renovation, seems like it's a waterproofing issue because I doubt the station was ever painted and it would seem stupid to paint it when they are planning on revamping the station in the near future.

I'm telling you, before they painted over the skylights the station was nowhere near as gloomy as it is now.

A few high powered LED lights will make it seem like daytime in there 24/7.

As in long narrow lights running parallel with the stainless steel ceiling trim or recessed with the trim itself?

This serves most of the major venues in town. They get huge lineups.

I use this station almost daily. Those machines are no longer there. I haven't counted the new ones in their current spot but it feels like there are less now.

That area was filled in about a decade ago with the Waves Coffee house. There's a door in the far corner now that connects to Platform 3.

One of the big benefits of the Compass Card is that there are a lot fewer people who need to purchase their fare at a ticket machine now. They just need to stop there once in a while to fill up their card, and that's only the folks who don't do it online.

The Buzzer Blog: award-winning public artwork at Joyce–Collingwood station

Quote:
We have some news to share!

For those of you who board/de-board the Expo Line at Joyce–Collingwood SkyTrain station, a new piece of public art has probably drawn your attention.

This large hand-painted window called ‘Off Centre’ by artist Renee Van Halm has won one of the Creative City Network of Canada’s Public Art Year in Review prizes!

The artwork was commissioned by TransLink as part of a significant renovation program for the SkyTrain stations built in 1986.
