^^Not really sure what happened, but it's been shut down for over a week now. If you still want to see Vista, just go to the Chicago Earthcam. It's not as good of quality, but can still give a pretty good picture of the building.

Has anyone heard any news about the branding of the hotel since Wanda sold their stake?

I recently spoke with a higher up person at Magellan, as was told that it's still technically a 'Wanda Hotel', but that will most likely change. When I pressed them about the other companies that they're talking to, and mentioned previously planned 5-star hotels in Chicago that were discussed during the last cycle, and threw out names like Shangri-la, St. Regis, Mandarin Oriental, they just smile and said, yeah we're talking to everyone.

Nope. My sources tell me that the project managers gave the construction crews stacks of glass panels and told them to just do whatever with them and then shrugged.

I didn't realize this was like the 7th or 8th tallest building going up in the entire Country right now, and I believe the tallest outside of NYC - That's pretty cool.

What's more, it is the only supertall that's currently going up outside of NYC. It's a pity that most US cities still don't care much for building tall. Several cities, for instance Houston, did impressively well back in the 1980s but then petered out for good. (Yes I am aware that Houston completed a 757-ft building just last year, but 757 ft isn't that tall by 2017 standards, and it's only the 6th tallest in Houston.)
