Vista, and its influence on the Chicago skyline silhouette.

Wow, what a fortunate shot. I've come in on that glide path many times, but never that low.

Great pics, everyone. This thing has that soaring quality

Yes, you can say that about every supertall, but I don’t necessarily think that every supertall soars. This one does—it celebrates verticality, sort of dances in the air.

This will become more obvious as all the glass goes in. One image I didn’t expect was the zigzag play of shadows on the glass in Kolchak’s pic above. Just adds to the effect

Thanks chris08876 for sharing that excellent photo. Vista is filling a fairly big gap in the skyline, while also adding stylistic diversity to the city's skyscrapers. This building both blends in and stands out.

The zigzag shadows are depicted in the official renderings (e.g. see the opening post in this thread), but they look much nicer in real life. Again, I bet this project is exceeding even the architect's own expectations.

Whoever said the core had topped out was wrong, there was a jump this morning. (According to the webcam)

https://www.vistatowerchicago.com/webcam/

Although I do believe this might be the final or second to final formwork jump.

Chris -- that picture is INCREDIBLE. HOLY cow. And getting the other jet in frame? That picture is a miracle. I can't stop looking at it.

I always thought of them as shadows also but when I took that pic the sun was in the east to the south of Vista. Those aren't shadows but reflections of the adjoining frustums.

there's 2 more crane sections sitting on the middle tower portion roof, definitely 1 more core/crane jump after todays. you can see them on the webcam and in the pictures posted if you look closely.

In addition to what I said above I also think that at a certain point in midsummer those 'shadows' will refelct the rising sun and will be orange glowing zig-zags.

For a second there, I thought someone braved the cold for photos today haha!

Anyways, the LSD straight shot will be stellar once complete. The glass is looking on point (almost a combo between BCBS' blue & the Tides' tealish).

I love watching it rise from my balcony (will be able to see the top 1/3), now the glass just need to play catchup to the core (only a couple more floors to go at this point).

I did!

Haven't finished edits, but here's a pano of the skyline from Adler. I'm really blown away by how tall Vista appears from this spot. Haven't been out there in a few months. Big difference. May have one or two closer-up shots, and will post once I get it edited.

This building is stunning. Easily my top 10 favorite in Chicago.

Thanks for the photo, Nick! My only request (next time you're at the Adler) is to include Essex in the pan if possible. I love the skyline height pop is brings.

Stay warm!

I run around Shedd Aquarium 3-4 times a week (though certainly not THIS week), so I've seen it grow, and even I am amazed by its presence.

Nick, you should get an updated shot of the tower from its base and do a side-by-side comparison with your 'Shop job when we thought this thing would top out without any glass.

I also think it's time to include Nema in the skyline too!
