I think it's part of the new GO Bus terminal.

source:https://cdn.skyrisecities.com

Video here: https://globalnews.ca/video/1589977/...o-bus-terminal

And once that is complete and GO moves south it will open this area up for this proposal to move forward/ Yes I know so many hate it, I like it.
from : http://onefrontwest.com

The two towers would rise above the east end of the heritage building, closest to Yonge Street. The taller west tower would reach a height of 170.8 metres, while the east tower would rise 163.8 metres. The east tower, closest to Yonge Street, would feature a triangular floor plate to create a three-sided tower, while the west tower would take on an extruded trapezoidal massing

It sits above the bus terminal but it's still office space - big podium floorplates.

141 Bay Street will go ahead before 1 Front West will

It has a tunnel that keeps the waterway open for traffic

That tiny airport is Canada's 9th busiest for take off and landings as well as passengers that pass through it each year.

Emergency stairwells for the 65000 square foot podium floorplate. I would guess it will be used for trading and branch operations.

CIBC Square is freaking gorgeous. May turn out to be my favourite office tower to be built in Canada during this boom. I can already tell once these two beauties are finished and the lights are turned on, it will become a landmark set of towers.

Ok that makes more sense. Is it mainly prop planes that fly from there? It looks like it would be similar to Calgary's Springbank airport which mostly flies smaller private planes.

Nice to see Toronto get something with a diagrid pattern in the skyline.

Prop planes yes, but bombardier Q400 turboprops that seat ~50 people and fly as far as Halifax, Thunder Bay, Washington DC, etc.

Yeah it’s actually not a bad airport, and the new tunnel is great. I flew in from Newark last year, the view of the skyline is amazing.

The feds denied expansion but, I have a feeling Airbus A220s will be flying out of the airport one day.

Porter needs it. Bay Street likes Porter.

No way it's happening unless they move the island a km further south. The amount of clearance a full jumbo jet needs for landing would have it flying several hundred feet above the Port Lands and Waterfront Toronto would most definitely fight for their air rights. Not to mention the noise from such a plane would be heard in every condo South of Lakeshore.
